So, a couple of week's ago Mark, my Glovebox partner, and myself travelled up to Manchester to attend the English Folk Expo. I really didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be one of the best run events that I've ever been to.

Home (the 'home' venue and one of my clients in my 'other' live) has great facilities, Manchester Town Hall was spectacular and even the O2 hasn't been stripped of it's character (unlike most others around the UK). Things ran on time, the organisers were really on the ball, the app they produced was VERY good and we even got a tour of Old Trafford (Man Utd) although I'd have been happier at Old Trafford (Lancashire County Cricket Club).

As well as all the showcases and gigs we got to see (Jon Boden's new band, Afro Celt Soundsytem and some stunning Canadian stuff from acts like Vishten and The East Pointers amongst others) the networking opportunities were amazing. If you have any connection to the folk/roots world then I'd thoroughly recommend going next year, even if it's just to go to the trade fair and walk off with shed loads of CDs!!!

Today's TunA band, getting their second run out on the site, is apt because they too are from MONchesta!! Indigo Roses' new single came out at the back end of Oct.
